Oral Hygiene
Dr. Zachery Green in Cheyenne, Wyoming, wants you to develop healthy oral hygiene habits. For proper oral hygiene, follow these guidelines:
- Brush your teeth carefully after each meal using fluoride toothpaste. (see below)
- Floss daily using proper technique. (see below)
- Visit your dentist every six months for a professional teeth cleaning.
- Limit sugar and starch in your diet as they turn into harmful acids which are damaging to teeth and gums and promote plaque buildup.
- Avoid hard and sticky foods such as popcorn, chewy or hard candies, nuts, and caramel. These types of foods are particularly harmful if you have braces, veneers, dentures, fillings, or a bridge.
Tooth Brushing
Plaque is like a sticky film of bacteria on your teeth. The best way to get rid of it is to brush regularly and correctly with toothpaste. At Denteffex in Cheyenne, Wyoming, we recommend a circular brushing motion as being most effective, covering a small group of teeth at a time. Hold your brush at a 45 degree angle to your teeth and brush all surfaces of the teeth. Gently brushing your tongue also removes harmful bacteria and freshens your breath.
Dr. Zachery Green advises brushing twice a day for three to four minutes each brushing. Most people tend to spend less than a minute brushing their teeth, so be conscious of the time you spend brushing your teeth.
Use a brush that has a small head and soft bristles. Normally, medium and hard bristles are not recommended as their abrasive qualities can wear down enamel and wear down the gum line.
Your toothpaste should contain fluoride, which is the most crucial ingredient, regardless of what you hear in advertisements. The toothpaste brand should also bear the American Dental Association (ADA) seal, showing its safety and effectiveness has been proven in clinical trials.
If you follow these guidelines, you will increase your tooth health and enjoy these benefits:
- low rate of tooth decay
- removing plaque on teeth
- fresh breath
- promoting re-mineralization
- polishing and cleaning teeth
- removing stains on teeth

Flossing
There are various types of floss, but regardless of the type of floss you use, getting in the habit of flossing daily is the most important factor to remove plaque between teeth.
We can give you a demonstration of proper flossing technique when you come in to our dentist office in Cheyenne, Wyoming, for your visit, but here is one basic technique.
Finger wrap method: Cut off an 18-inch long piece of floss. Wrap each end of the floss around the middle fingers of each hand. Gently push the floss in between the teeth—use an up-and-down motion rather than side-to-side. Push the floss below the gum line forming a “C” along the base of each tooth.

Veneers
A dental veneer is a custom-made thin layer of material designed to cover the front of the tooth, either for aesthetic reasons or to protect a damaged tooth surface. At Denteffex in Cheyenne, Wyoming, we can make both composite or porcelain veneers, which both match the color of your teeth very well. Porcelain veneers are fabricated and then bonded to the tooth. Composite veneers can either be built up directly in the mouth or fabricated and then bonded.
Veneers are very useful in cosmetic dentistry to improve the look of a patient’s teeth. Typically, Dr. Zachery Green uses veneers to fix:
- tooth discoloration
- broken or chipped teeth
- teeth that are worn down
- crooked or uneven teeth
- small teeth or teeth with gaps between them
The initial step to getting veneers includes a consultation at our Denteffex office in Cheyenne. This consultation involves an examination of the teeth to ensure that veneers are appropriate, possibly followed by x-rays.
To prepare the tooth for veneers, the Dr. Zachery Green removes a small amount of enamel from the surface of the tooth. This thin layer of enamel being removed is to be replaced by the veneer itself. Local anesthetics are used so the process is painless. After removing the enamel, the Dr. Green will take an impression of your tooth which will be sent to a laboratory to construct the veneers.
During the final visit, the veneer is placed on the tooth repeatedly as the Dr. Green trims and fits the veneer. Once the veneer is ready, the tooth is cleaned and then etched (roughened) for a stronger bond. The veneer is finally put into place with bonding material, excess cement is removed, and any final adjustments are made.
Veneers will typically last 8-10 years, after which time they need to be replaced. Once you have them put in, they do not require any change to your oral hygiene habits.
If you are experiencing oral health issues and would like to discuss veneers as a possible solution, please contact Denteffex in Cheyenne, Wyoming, today. Dr. Zachery Green welcomes patients from the southeastern Wyoming area, including Laramie, Buford, Warren Air Force Base, and northern Colorado communities as far as Fort Collins.
Clear Braces (often referred to as Invisalign)
At Denteffex in Cheyenne, Wyoming, we offer clear braces, or Invisalign, as an esthetic teeth-straightening solution. Invisalign is a patented system where we are able to produce clear, removable aligners for straightening teeth. We use digital 3D imagery to plan tooth movements throughout your treatment timeline. Unlike braces, you can remove your aligners, and when you have them in, they are nearly invisible.
Invisalign works in a similar fashion to braces, applying a small amount of pressure over a period of time to slowly straighten your teeth.
Schedule a consultation with Dr. Zachery Green in Cheyenne, Wyoming, to see if clear braces are a good option for you. Remember, we welcome patients from Warren Air Force Base, Laramie, and Fort Collins, Colorado, and other surrounding communities in southeastern Wyoming and northern Colorado.

Dentures
A denture is a removable dental appliance used to replace missing teeth. Complete dentures are used when all natural teeth are missing. Partial dentures are used when some natural teeth still remain; they act as dental bridges since they bridge the gap between one or more missing teeth.
To develop dentures, Dr. Zachery Green in Cheyenne, Wyoming, takes measurements and impressions of your jaw. Exact models of the denture are made using plastic or wax. These models are tested for fit, color, and shape before the final denture is cast. Once the final dentures are completed, they are fitted and adjusted in your mouth as necessary.

Composite Fillings
Fillings are used to restore a tooth that has been affected by tooth decay. Dr. Zachery Green will remove the decayed portion of the tooth and then fill the area where the decay used to be.
First Dr. Green numbs the area with a local anesthetic. Then the decayed area is removed with a drill, laser, or similar instrument. Once the decay has been removed, the cavity is cleaned and then filled. Finally, Dr. Green finishes the filling and polishes it.
At our dental office in Cheyenne, Wyoming, we recommend tooth-colored composite fillings. These fillings are built up layer by layer and cured with a special light. Because composite fillings can be matched to the color of your tooth, they are not noticeable like gold, silver, and other colored fillings. They also bond to the structure of your tooth unlike gold, silver, and other materials used in fillings. Composite materials are also very versatile and can be used to repair cracked, chipped, or worn teeth.
We invite you to schedule your next dentist appointment with us at Denteffex. Dr. Zachery Green and his staff are excited to serve you and welcome you to our office. We welcome patients from Cheyenne, Laramie, and Fort Collins, Colorado, including all surrounding areas such as Warren Air Force Base, Buford, Granite, and other communities.
Crowns (All Porcelain, Porcelain fused to metal, gold)
Dr. Zachery Green and his staff welcome you to Denteffex in Cheyenne, Wyoming, to experience professional, courteous oral health care.
A dental crown is essentially a cap placed over the tooth. Crowns can be used for various reasons, including:
- To repair a worn or broken tooth
- To protect a weak tooth
- To cover a tooth that has a filling when there isn’t much tooth left to support it
- To hold a dental bridge in position
- To cover an implant
- For cosmetic reasons, to cover discolored or oddly shaped teeth
To prepare for your tooth for a crown, the Dr. Zachery Green inspects your teeth and takes x-rays to ensure that your entire tooth is healthy enough for a crown. Then Dr. Green uses a local anesthetic to numb the area before reshaping your tooth. The tooth is filed down just enough to make room for the crown. If part of the tooth is missing, the Dr. Green may need to build up the tooth in that location in order to support the crown. Impressions of your teeth are then taken and sent to a laboratory to fabricate the crown. Dr. Green will place a temporary crown on your tooth to protect it until the permanent crown is ready.
Once the crown is ready, you will go back in for your second visit. The temporary crown is removed and the permanent crown is tested for color and proper fit. Once it has been tested, Dr. Green will apply local anesthetic and cement the crown in place.
There are various materials used to fabricate dental crowns. At Denteffex in Cheyenne, Wyoming, we use the following materials depending on the patient’s particular situation:
All-Porcelain Crowns
All-porcelain crowns match your natural tooth color better than any other crown type. There are many types of all-porcelain crowns. Their main advantage is esthetics, but now the Zirconia and Impress Emax all-porcelain crowns are just as strong, or stronger, than porcelain-fused-to-metal crowns. They can be milled from a single block of porcelain by a computer guided mill, and are very exact and esthetic.
Porcelain-Fused-to-Metal
Like all-porcelain crowns, porcelain-fused-to-metal crowns can be color-matched to your natural teeth. Because they are strong, they are a good choice for front or back teeth.
Gold Crowns
Gold crowns withstand normal biting and chewing very well and therefore typically are the longest lasting type of crown. Since this type of crown has a metallic gold color, it is normally only used on molars that cannot be seen.

Bridges
Dr. Zachery Green and his staff in Cheyenne, Wyoming, at Denteffex Dental Office, can help you if you are experiencing oral health problems. We provide many different dental procedures and services, including dental bridges.
A dental bridge is an appliance cemented in place and is used to replace one or more teeth that are missing from a patient’s mouth. Typically, a bridge is made out of a false (pontic) tooth which is held together by two crowns, or caps. The appliance is then cemented to the teeth on either side of the gap (abutment teeth).
Sometimes a resin bonded bridge is used if the missing teeth are in the front of the mouth. The false (pontic) teeth are fused to metal bands, which are then cemented with resin to the back of the surrounding (abutment) teeth.
Proper oral hygiene habits are the key to the success of a dental bridge. With proper habits, a bridge typically lasts 10 years.

Implants
Dr. Zachery Green at Denteffex Dental Office in Cheyenne, Wyoming, invites you to contact our office if you are considering dental implants.
Dental Implants are small appliances inserted into the jaw to act as replacement tooth roots. They serve as a good foundation for replacement teeth. Implants have several advantages, as outlined below:
- Implants improve both your speech and your appearance. Because they are fused to your bone, implants are permanent. Therefore, they feel like your own teeth. Implants also allow you to speak confidently, without the worry that your dentures might slip. You will also have a renewed sense of self-esteem since your implants will have the look and feel of your natural teeth.
- Implants make it easier for you to chew. Unlike dentures, implants will not shift in your mouth while chewing, making it easier and more comfortable for you to eat.
- Implants can last a lifetime because of their durability.
- Implants are much more convenient than dentures. You don’t have to deal with their regular removal and adhesives to put them back in place.
Implants are a good choice for patients needing replacement teeth. They have a 98% success rate and can last your entire life with proper care and oral hygiene.
